About the project

comUnicat is a self-designed controller with an accompanying game.  The project was my bachelor's thesis for the Game Design program at HTW Berlin.

My goal was to build my own controller that offered as many different input options as possible. For example, I used a slider, magnetic slots, and a mouse wheel.

In order to use the controller, I also created a game in Unreal Engine. It is a high score game where the goal is to control the environment so that the character scores as many points as possible.

The controller is used to control the platforms in the environment. The character was created using Meta Humans and integrated into the engine. I created the other 3D assets myself.

Approach

This project can be divided into different categories.
▸ Design and conceptualization of the controller.
▸ Implementing the controller using Arduino, electrical engineering, and 3D printing.
▸ Development of the game concept, tailored to the controller
▸Implementation of the game and connection between the controller and the engine
